In this blog post we'll give you an overview on the temperatures for the different time of the year so you know what to expect when you visit the island. Of course, a weather forecast is
As Lanzarote is a lot closer to the equator than places like the U.K, it benefits from year round sunshine and temperatures that very rarely drop below a very pleasant 20 degrees during the day and 13 degrees in the evening. Of course, in the summer things can heat up quite a bit more than that and you can expect days to regularly hit the mid 30's.
It's also possible that Lanzarote can experience freak weather in the other direction and temperatures have been known to plummet to around 8 degrees in the 'winter' months and bring with them hail and bitter winds, although this is a very uncommon occurrence.

Does it rain much in Lanzarote?
Being an island, surrounded by the Atlantic, Lanzarote does get the occasional rain shower. One of the unique things about Lanzarote is the wind, so any lingering rain clouds that might be around in the morning are often blown away for the afternoon, resulting in more great weather for you to hit the beach or take part in your favourite things to do in Lanzarote.
What is a Calima
You might have heard people say that there is currently a 'Calima' in Lanzarote. Calima is the Spanish word used to describe sand or dust that is suspended in the atmosphere. This can give the place an eery orange tint, and in extreme cases can reduce the air quality. Usually when a Calima hits the Canaries it's a result of sand being picked up by the winds in the Sahara Desert and carried west over the islands.
When a Calima hits Lanzarote we usually sees a rise in temperatures that remain until the sand in the atmosphere is blown away or disperses.
What's the best time of year to visit Lanzarote?
If you're coming purely to sit in the sun all day then the summer months are very popular. They are usually also very busy, especially when the schools are closed, so if you prefer a quieter holiday then consider coming outside of the school holidays.
The winter months are a great time to visit. Not only do you get comfortable temperatures, and it's nice enough to get a good tan, you get to escape the dark cold days of back home for a week or two!
Is Lanzarote Windy?
For most of the year Lanzarote is quite a windy island. In the summer this can be a blessing as it helps to give a cooler feel to the hot summer temperatures, although sometimes it can be a bit of a pain with dust and sand blowing around. As we've mentioned, one of the benefits of the Lanzarote wind is that if their are rain clouds lingering over the island they don't stick around for long!
Are there things to do in Lanzarote if the weather is bad?
Absolutely. Lanzarote may only be a small island, but there is certainly no shortage of things to do to keep you occupied. Whether it's a bus tour to the Timanfaya National Park or a Buggy ride around Lanzarote, there is always something going on, whatever the weather!
