If you're thinking of spending Christmas here in Lanzarote, you might be wondering if things are open, what celebrations take place and what the weather is like? Well, let us put your mind to rest.
Thanks to it's location and proximity to the equator, Lanzarote is a year round holiday destination and the weather during the festive period is usually pretty good with temperatures averaging around 21 degrees during the day in December. Are bars and restaurants open in Lanzarote during Christmas?
Christmas and New Year are two of the busiest times on the island, so it's no surprise that the bars and restaurants will all be open. Many places will also serve up a Christmas Day meal or open for drinks in the afternoon. The Spanish don't celebrate Christmas on the 25th December so to them it's largely a normal working day.
What you might find in the lead up to Christmas, usually around the start of December, is a few places closing for a quick break before the Christmas rush. If it's a quieter, more relaxed holiday you're looking for, and eating or drinking out isn't a big thing for you (some places will be open, it's not like the place is completely closed), then the start of December might be a good time to visit and get some much needed winter sun.
